Description
Laboratory safety is key to having a safe environment. Your work in the lab can be very rewarding, but it also exposes you to possible hazards from the chemicals you work with ever day. It’s important that you understand the hazards that are found in laboratory chemicals, and know what to do to protect yourself. That’s why OSHA developed the “Occupational Exposures to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories” rule, also known as OSHA Lab Standard.
This course looks at the hazards that are found in the laboratory and some ways to protect lab workers from those hazards. It also looks at an overview of the OSHA Lab Standard, the elements of a Chemical Hygiene Plan, and some of the basic rules of good chemical hygiene. Finally, the course examines chemical storage requirements and some general procedures to follow in case of an emergency.
