It is important to take the proper handling and use of chemicals very seriously. The misuse of chemicals can result in serious health issues both immediately and many years following exposure. This course dovetails with, but is not a substitute for, separate on-the-job training you have already or will receive for the work you do. In your on-the-job training, you will be given instructions for the specific chemicals that you use. In this course, you will learn to identify health and safety hazards of a substance as it is listed on a Material Data Sheet and the precautions you need to take when handling that substance while complying with GHS requirements.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify your responsibilities under OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard
- Describe how to use a Hazardous Substance list
- Identify health and safety hazards of a substance as it is listed on a Material Data Sheet and the precautions you need to take when handling that substance
- Read both NFPA and HMIS labels
